A message about one of the travels of antiquity and the Middle Ages.

One of the most difficult and long journeys in antiquity was made by the Greek merchant and navigator Pytheas. He was the first of the Greeks to sail to the Baltic, moving along the European coast from west to east. On the way, he saw the Strait of Gibraltar, the shores of modern Spain, Portugal, British skeletons, etc.

In the Middle Ages, perhaps the most significant was the voyage of Christopher Columbus, who in the 15th century sought a way to India through the west, but discovered the new mainland America in 1496 and thus opened it up to Europeans.
