1) Find the mass of the solute acid in water. To do this, we multiply the mass fraction of the substance by the mass of the solution and divide by one hundred percent: 500 * 10/100 = 50g.
2) Find the mass of the solution after adding water. To do this, add the mass of the original solution and the mass of added water: 500 + 100 = 600g.
3) Find the mass fraction of the substance in the resulting solution. For this, the mass of the solute is divided by the mass of the solution and multiplied by one hundred percent: 50/600 * 100 = 8.3% – the answer.
