A source of direct current EMF 220V and internal resistance RBH = 0.4 Ohm is connected to two series-connected consumers. The resistance of one of them is 4.4 Ohm, the voltage across it is 110V. Find the voltage at the terminals of the source and the current in the circuit.

Given:
E = 220V,
r = 0.4 Ohm,
R1 = 4.4 Ohm,
U1 = 110V;
Find: U and I;
According to Ohm’s Law:
I = U1 / R1 = 110 / 4.4 = 25A;

This is the current in the circuit, since the resistances are connected in series.
U is the voltage across external resistances and is equal to:
U = E – I * r = 220V – 0.25A * 0.4 Ohm = 210V.
