A steel bar weighing 4 kg was heated. In this case, 200,000J of heat was spent. Determine the final body temperature if the initial temperature is t = 10 C

Task data: m (weight of a steel bar) = 4 kg; Q (spent heat for heating the bar) = 200,000 J; t0 (initial temperature) = 10 ºС.

Reference values: Сс (specific heat capacity of steel) = 500 J / (kg * ºС).

We express the final temperature of the steel bar from the formula: Q = Cc * m * (t – t0), whence t – t0 = Q / (Cc * m) and t = Q / (Cc * m) + t0.

Calculation: t = 200000 / (500 * 4) + 10 = 100 + 10 = 110 ºС.

Answer: After heating, the steel bar had a temperature of 110 ºС.
