Two expressions are given, one of which is less than the second by 2.4. So if you add 2.4 to the first expression, they will be equal to the second. We get:
-4 (2y – 0.9) + 2.4 = 5.6 – 10y,
-8y + 3.6 + 2.4 = 5.6 -10y,
-8y + 10y + 6 = 5.6,
2y = 5.6 – 6,
2y = -0.4,
y = -0.4 / 2,
y = -0.2
Answer: y = -0.2.
