| Calculate the volume of hydrogen that will be released if magnesium reacts with a solution of phosphoric acid in an amount of 1 mol.
Magnesium dissolves in phosphoric acid solution. The reaction is described by the following chemical equation:
3Mg + 2H3PO4 = Mg3 (PO4) 2 + 3H2 ↑;
N Mg = 1 mol;
An equivalent amount of hydrogen gas will be obtained.
Let’s calculate the volume of hydrogen.
To do this, multiply the amount of substance by the volume of 1 mole of gas (which is 22.4 liters).
V H2 = 1 x 22.4 = 22.4 liters;
