Can insoluble bases interact with metals?

The bases can be divided into two types: water-soluble and water-insoluble. The ionic salt of alkali and alkaline earth metals dissolves in water. They are also known as alkalis. For example, sodium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, calcium hydroxide, etc. Alkali is considered a strong base.

When an alkali (base) reacts with a metal, it produces salt and hydrogen gas: Alkali + Metal ⇨ Salt + Hydrogen.

Example: Sodium hydroxide produces hydrogen gas and sodium zincate when reacted with zinc metal.
