Describe the barbarossa plan. What, in your opinion, explains the belief of the leaders of Nazi Germany in the possibility of implementing the plan of a blitzkrieg?

At the beginning, the German leadership planned to carry out military operations in accordance with the principle of lightning war. Germany’s leaders believed that the surprise attack would shock the state, forcing it to surrender and hand over power to Adolf Hitler. The enemy’s confidence in victory was justified by the fact that all previous attacks on European states ended in success thanks to a surprise strike. But in the case of the USSR, Barbarossa’s plan did not work, and the war turned into a protracted one.
