Determine the mass of zinc, which is formed by the interaction of hydrogen with 100 g of zinc oxide containing 19% impurities.

The mass of pure zinc oxide is 100 x (1 – 0.19) = 81 grams;

The amount of zinc oxide is:

M ZnO = 65 + 16 = 81 grams / mol;

N ZnO = 81/81 = 1 mol;

The same amount of zinc can be synthesized.

M Zn = 65 grams / mol;

m Zn = 1 x 65 = 65 grams;
