Differences between asteroids and comets.

The first difference between a comet and an asteroid is their composition. The former are mainly composed of ice, dust and a small portion of rocky material. But asteroids, on the contrary, do not have ice, but there is the largest part of rocky material and various metals. Based on the first characteristic, the second difference can be considered: comets are formed far from the Sun, and asteroids are close to it. When comets fly in the direction of the Sun, the ice of most of which they are composed begins to melt, thereby forming a tail. Asteroids have no tail. The fourth difference between comets and asteroids is in their numbers. Comets are thousands of times smaller than asteroids.
