Explain why hybrids of different plant species are more common in nature than different types of animals.

To obtain hybrids – the result of sexual reproduction, a fertilization process is needed. That is, the fusion of two sex cells – male and female. Before fertilization, the sex cells must “meet” each other. Plants have several ways to ensure such a meeting: with the help of water, wind, different species of animals (insects, birds). Such a meeting is possible among plants belonging to different species. In animals, such a meeting is possible only by direct contact among individuals of the same species.
