| Find the abscissa of the vertex of the parabola y = x ^ 2 – 2 * x + 4.
The abscissa of the vertex of the parabola is calculated by the formula x = -b / (2 * a).
From the parabola y = x ^ 2 – 2 * x + 4 it is known: a = 1, b = -2 and c = 4.
Substituting the known values into the formula, we get:
x = -b / (2 * a) = – (- 2) / (2 * 1) = 2/2 = 1;
Answer: the abscissa of the vertex of the parabola is x = 1.
