| A trapezoid is a quadrilateral in which one pair of opposite sides is parallel, and the sides are not equal to each other.
In order to find the area of a trapezoid, you need to multiply the half-sum of its bases by the height:
S = (a + b) / 2 h, where:
S is the area of the trapezoid;
a – smaller base;
b – larger base;
h is the height of the trapezoid.
S = (15 + 18) / 2 ∙ 14 = 33/2 ∙ 14 = 231 cm2.
Answer: the area of the trapezoid is 231 cm2.
