Find the coordinates of the intersection of the graphs of the functions y = -14 x + 32 and y = 26 x – 8

1. In order to find the intersection points of the graphs of functions, we equate the right-hand sides of the equalities, we obtain

-14x + 32 = 26x – 8;

-14x – 26x = -8 – 32;

-40x = -40;

x = -40: (-40);

x = 1.

2. Find the value of y, for this value x = 1 we substitute in one of the formulas of the graphs of functions, we have:

y = -14x + 32 = -14 * 1 + 32 = -14 + 32 = 18.

Answer: the intersection point of the function graphs has coordinates (1; 18).
