How has the political structure of the Netherlands changed after the liberation from Spanish rule?

After the bourgeois revolution, only part of the Netherlands gave up the rule of the Spanish crown. This part became the northern Protestant territories, which later became known as the Republic of the Northern Provinces. Here trade, free private law, capitalist relations developed actively – everything that is usually inherent in the Republic as a political structure.

The southern Catholic part was clearly inferior to Holland – it remained under the constitutional monarchy of the House of Habsburg.
