| In a parallelogram, the difference between adjacent sides is 5 cm. And its perimeter is 38 cm. Find the smaller side of the parallelogram.
Let a – the smaller side of the parallelogram, b – the large side of the parallelogram;
by condition b – a = 5 (cm); b = a + 5;
the perimeter of the parallelogram P = 2 (a + b);
P = 2 (a + a + 5); P = 38 cm;
2 (2 a + 5) = 38;
4 a + 10 = 38; 4 a = 28; a = 7 cm;
The smaller side of the parallelogram is 7 cm.
