In medicine, a physiological solution is used – a 0.85% solution of sodium chloride NaCl. Calculate the mass of table salt and the mass of water required to obtain 100 g of such a solution.

The mass of the solution is 100 grams;

To find the mass of salt, it is necessary to multiply its mass fraction by the mass of the solution.

m salt = 100 x 0.85 / 100 = 0.85 grams;

To find the mass of water, subtract the mass of salt from the mass of the solution:

m water = 100 – 0.85 = 99.15 grams;

Check: 99.15 + 0.85 = 100;
