In which parts of the world was the Byzantine Empire located?

During the period of its greatest power, the Byzantine Empire spread out in Asia Minor, Syria, Palestine, Africa, Spain, Italy, Egypt and the Balkans. Thus, we can say that under the auspices of Byzantium were the lands of three continents: Europe, Asia and Africa.

The capital itself, Constantinople, was located at the junction of Asia and Europe, in a strategically important location. This explains the exceptionally advantageous economic position of Constantinople.

Later, Byzantium lost many of its lands. Only Asia Minor and part of the Balkans remained.
