We carry out the following chain of transformations: ethyl alcohol – carbon dioxide – glucose – starch.
1. We get carbon dioxide from ethyl alcohol. As a result of the interaction of ethyl alcohol with oxygen, carbon dioxide is formed
CHOH + 3O₂ = 2CO₂ + 3H₂O;
2. Formation of glucose. When carbon dioxide and water interact, glucose is formed. Reaction conditions: light, chlorophyll.
6CO₂ + 6H₂O = C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂;
3. Starch formation. When enzymes act on glucose, starch is formed.
nC₆H₁₂O₆-enzymes -> (C₆H₁₂O₅) n + (n-1) H₂O.
