One side of the triangle is 56 cm, the other is 14 cm shorter than the first, and the third is half the length of the other. Find the perimeter of the triangle.
1) Let us find out how long the second side of the triangle is, if we know by condition that it is 14 cm shorter than its first side, and the length of the first side is 56 cm.
56 – 14 = 42 cm.
2) Determine the length of the third side of the triangle, if we are told that it is half the length of the second side, and we found out the length of the second side and it was 42 cm.
42/2 = 21 cm.
3) Determine the perimeter of the found triangle.
56 + 42 + 21 = 119 cm.
Answer: the perimeter of this triangle is 119 cm.
