Reasons for the split of the Catholic Church in 1054?

The split in the Christian Church has been brewing for a long time. Conflicts between Eastern and Western Christians arose over various local problems. However, the main conflict was the struggle for headship in the church. The Pope and the Patriarch of Constantinople fought. It was the impossibility of resolving this conflict (none of them, of course, could concede the dominant position to the other) and contributed to the final split of the church into two branches: Catholicism and Orthodoxy. Catholicism later split into several more branches.
