The 6610kg tractor has a support area of both tracks of 1.4 m2. How much pressure does the tractor apply to the soil?
October 1, 2021 | education
| The force acting on the support platform will be equal to the gravity of the tractor: F = m * g,
where m is the mass of the tractor, g is the acceleration of gravity.
By definition of pressure P = F / S where F is the force, S is the area.
Then we get:
P = F / S = m * g / S = 6610 * 9.8 / 1.4 = 47000 Pa = 47 KPa.
