From the condition it is known that the bases of the trapezoid are equal to 10 and 2, and it is also known that the height of the trapezoid is 7. Find the area of the trapezoid.
For this we apply the formula for finding the area:
S = (a + b) / 2 * h.
The area of the trapezoid is equal to half the sum of the bases of the trapezoid multiplied by the height.
We know all the data and we can go straight to the calculation. Substitute the values into the formula and calculate:
S = (10 + 2) / 2 * 7 = 12/2 * 7 = 6 * 7 = 42 sq. units.
Answer: 42 sq. units are the area of the trapezoid.
