The cause of the acceleration of the ball rolling down the chute.

A ball rolling down the chute is acted upon by 2 forces, this is the force of gravity G, equal to G = m * g, and the friction force Ffr, equal to Ffr = k * N.

According to Newton’s second law:

m * a = G – Ftr = m * g – k * N, hence:

a = (m * g – k * N) / m.

It can be seen from the obtained formula that the force imparting acceleration to the ball is the force of gravity. The less the friction force acting on the ball, the greater the acceleration will be.
