The arrival of Europeans to the American continent marked a new stage in the history of the development of the world. But besides the European colonialists, the original inhabitants of these lands lived on the mainland. They were called the generalized concept of the Indians. There were about 15 Native American language families in North America. The most prominent representatives of these peoples were the Aztecs and Mayans. Their civilizations were developed along an individual path, but after the spread of settlers, their population declined and practically disappeared from the face of the Earth.
