The length of the rectangular section is 14 m, and the width is 9 m less. Find the area of the second section if it is 2 times less than the area of the first.
Find the width of the first rectangular section.
According to the condition of the problem, the length of this section is 14 meters, and its width is 9 meters less, therefore, the width of this rectangular section is:
14 – 9 = 5 m.
Let us find the area S of a given rectangular section as the product of the length and width of this section:
S = 14 * 5 = 70 m².
According to the condition of the problem, the area of the second section is 2 times less than the area of the first section, therefore, the area of the second section is:
70/2 = 35 m².
