| 1. The base of an isosceles triangle is x centimeters.
2. Its perimeter is x * 4 = 4x centimeters.
3. The side is (4x – 10) centimeters.
4. Let’s make an equation.
x + (4x – 10) * 2 = 4x;
x + 8x – 20 = 4x;
9x – 4x = 20;
5x = 20;
x = 20/5 = 4;
Answer: The base is x = 4 centimeters, the side is 4x – 10 = 4 * 4 – 10 = 6 centimeters.
