The perimeter of the triangle is 80 cm. The length of one of its sides is 4 cm longer than the length of the second, but shorter than the third by 3 cm, find the lengths of the sides.

1. We take for the length of one of the sides of the figure in the shape of a triangle, the second side of the triangle has a length (x – 4) centimeters, the length of the third side of the triangle (x + 3) centimeters.

2. Let’s compose the equation:

x + (x – 4) + (x + 3) = 80;

3x = 81;

x = 27 centimeters.

3. The length of the second side of the triangle is 27 – 4 = 23 centimeters.

4. The length of the third side of the triangle is 27 + 3 = 30 centimeters.

Answer: the length of one of the sides of the triangle is 27 centimeters, the second is 23 centimeters, the third is 30 centimeters.
