The similarities of the continental and oceanic crust.

The main similarity between oceanic and continental crust is that their bases in both cases are composed of basalts. However, the basalt layer of the oceanic crust is much thinner than that of the mainland. The second similarity is that the upper part of both oceanic and continental crust is composed of sedimentary rocks. In this case, the sedimentary layer of the continents is also much thicker than in the case of the oceans. The main difference is the absence of a granite layer in the oceanic crust and its presence in the mainland.
