Southern society under the command of Muravyov was guided by moderate tendencies. It planned to introduce a constitution restricting the rights of the monarch, and then approve the power of the Constituent Assembly. More radical ideas prevailed in southern society. They planned to divide the land of the landowners equally between aristocrats and farmers.
