The two sides of the quadrilateral are equal. Calculate the length of the equal sides if the length of the other sides is 15 cm and 18 cm, and the perimeter is 50 cm.
To solve the problem, remember that the perimeter is the sum of the lengths of all sides. And also remember that a quadrilateral has 4 sides. Thus, the solution can be started by calculating the length of two equal sides. To find the length of two unknown sides, subtract the sum of the lengths of two known sides from the value of the perimeter:
15 + 18 = 33
Now let’s subtract this amount from the perimeter:
50 – 33 = 17
Knowing that the two unknown sides are equal, we calculate what each of them is equal to:
17: 2 = 8.5
Answer: the length of each of the unknown sides is 8.5 cm.
