A magnifier is the simplest magnifying device. Magnifiers are:
a) Manual – consists of a magnifying glass placed in a wooden, metal or plastic frame with a handle. Such a magnifier is suitable for working in the field, for reading people with impaired vision.
b) Tripod – has a tripod on which other parts are attached: a stage, a mirror, screws, magnifying glasses. It is stationary and is only suitable for laboratory research.
The magnification of a tripod magnifier is greater than that of a manual magnifier.
