What difficulties do tundra plants overcome?

Tundra is a natural area located in permafrost areas that are not flooded by sea and river waters.
The main difficulty for tundra plants is, first of all, climatic conditions. Long and windy winters, frozen ground, constant strong winds, uneven distribution of snow cover, short spring and summer – these are the conditions to which tundra plants adapt. The vegetation is mainly composed of mosses, lichens, shrubs and dwarf trees.
