You know that yeast is mushroom. In the store they are sold in a “sleeping” state. The state in which it is easiest for them to endure adverse conditions. But as soon as the yeast gets into a suitable environment – for example, warm water, they “wake up” and begin to actively multiply. If you add sugar to the solution, the process will go faster and after a while you can smell the alcohol – the waste product of yeast.
