What is the main occupation of the Egyptians?

The Egyptians were engaged in cattle breeding, various crafts, but their main occupation was agriculture. This is the improvement of the quality of the land in order to use it as the cultivation of agricultural crops (rice, corn, wheat, legumes). For the Egyptians, wheat and barley were the main ones. They were grown on the very banks of the Nile, since there was the greatest proportion of the earth’s moisture. And due to the fact that a huge part of the river valley was swampy, it was necessary to drain it in order to obtain fertile land.
