What is the role of rhinophytes in the plant kingdom?

Riniophytes had a primitive structure, without leaves and roots. They were attached to the soil by colorless outgrowths similar to root hairs. Outwardly they looked like algae.
The presence of integumentary and conductive tissues contributed to the adaptation of these plants to the land. This plant species became extinct; it existed in the Silurian – Upper Devonian.
Riniophytes are the first terrestrial plants that are considered the ancestors of other higher plants. The emergence of rhinophins on land is an important event in the evolution of the biosphere.
