What lessons can be learned from the history of the First World War?

The First World War turned out to be a large-scale world conflict, where large empires collided. At the same time, the war had a consequence that led to the collapse of large empires: Austro-Hungarian, German, Ottoman and Russian. Many states gained independence. It can be said that imperialism and the oppression of national movements have caused this order of things.
