What period in the history of Athens is called the Golden Age?

Having won a military confrontation with the Persians, Athens, in the 5th century BC, entered the era of prosperity, called the “golden age”. This is the time of the flourishing of the arts, the development of crafts, and the expansion of trade with other countries. The ships of the Greeks, laden with goods, sailed the seas. Democracy has also reached its height. Every free resident of Athens could take part in the adoption of decisions important for the state by submitting his proposals to the national assembly. Elections were held here, issues of foreign and domestic policy were resolved. Finally, in the same historical period, the Olympic Games became famous all over the world, to this day they remain the standard of sports success. Ancient Greece illuminated the path for mankind for centuries to come.
