In my opinion, the following expeditions became the most important in the history of mankind:
1. Vasco da Gama’s expedition to India. Thanks to her, the Portuguese finally managed to bypass Africa and enter the Indian Ocean.
2. The voyage of Columbus, as a result of which people discovered a new continent for the first time in several millennia;
3. Fernand Magellan’s circumnavigation, after which the sphericity of the Earth no longer raised questions.
4. Swimming by James Cook, who saw Australia and many other islands in the Pacific Ocean.
