Who was considered a person in the Middle Ages and in the Age of Enlightenment?

The epochs of the Enlightenment and the Middle Ages dictated radically different views on man. In the Middle Ages, the church dominated. Man was considered a weak-willed slave of God. He had no right to express his natural needs, did not dare to go against God’s will. Man was considered an imperfect lower being. But the Age of Enlightenment was significantly different in its views on man. He was no longer that filthy sinful being. Man has acquired the right to freedom. His body was not a sinful shell, but a beautiful work of art.
