Why can plants survive without water but animals can’t?

Water is an essential component for the life of all living things.

However, most organisms are able to hold out for some time without water, but plants in such conditions manage to remain viable longer.

The fact is that animals release a certain amount of water vapor during respiration. It is impossible to stop breathing, and the loss of fluid will lead to dehydration and death, therefore it is necessary to consume water.

Plants, on the other hand, are able to regulate the evaporation of water from the leaf surface by closing and opening the stomata. With a lack of moisture, they temporarily close the stomata. In addition, they are able to extract water from the soil without additional irrigation.
