Why were oriental sweets of coffee and cocoa not popular among peasants in the 19th century?

In the 19th century, products such as cocoa, oriental sweets and coffee were considered luxury goods. They were shipped from distant lands and sold at huge prices. Therefore, many were simply not able to purchase such products. For example, it is known that in the 19th century even wealthy nobles rarely allowed themselves to drink coffee. As for the peasants, they got along exclusively with the products that they grew themselves. Due to the high cost of the latter, there could not be any foreign products and dishes in their diet.
