| Consider the equation of the circle:
(x – x0) ² + (y – y0) ² = R²;
In this formula, x, y are variable values, and the rest is:
x0 – abscissa of the center of the circle;
y0 is the ordinate of the center of the circle;
R is the size of the radius of the circle.
According to the condition of the problem, the center of the circle is at the point with coordinates A (-8; 4), that is: x0 = -8, y0 = 4. The radius of this circle is R = 6 cm.
If we substitute this data into the formula for the equation of the circle, we get:
(x – (-8)) ² + (y – 4) ² = 6²;
(x + 8) ² + (y – 4) ² = 36.
We got the required equation of the circle.
