H2O + FeO = Fe (OH) 2 (insoluble base, a greenish precipitate forms, which turns brown over time). When basic oxides react with water, bases are formed. Fe2O3 – iron oxide (3) – amphoteric oxide. When interacting with water, forms an insoluble base, with the precipitation of a brown precipitate.
Iron oxide (6) does not exist.
