| Let’s write down the reaction equations for the following transitions: sulfur to sulfur oxide SO2 to sulfur oxide SO3 and to H2SO4 and to BaSO4.
We start by writing the equation for the reaction of sulfur with oxygen and get:
1) S + O2 = SO2.
The following reaction equation is the interaction of the resulting substance from the first reaction equation with oxygen.
2) SO2 + O2 = SO3.
Let’s equalize the resulting reaction equation in both parts:
2SO2 + 2O2 = 2SO3.
The following reaction equation, the resulting substance from the previous one plus water:
3) SO3 + H2O = H2SO4.
