20% of the time the body moved at a speed of 1m / s, half of the time at a speed of 5m / s, and the remaining time at a speed of 10m / s. Determine the average speed of movement of the body for the entire time of its movement.
1) Let’s take conditionally all the time of movement equal to 1 sec.
2) The path traversed with the first speed will be equal to: P = 0.2 * 1 = 0.2 m;
3) The path traversed at the second speed will be equal to: P = 0.5 * 5 = 2.5 m;
4) The path traversed with the third speed will be equal to: P = 0.3 * 10 = 3 m, where 0.3 is 1 – (0.2 + 0.5) = 0.3 s – the time of movement with the third speed.
5) We get the path covered for the entire time: P = 0.2 + 2.5 + 3 = 5.7 m;
6) The average speed will be equal to: Vav. = 5.7 / 1 = 5.7 m / s.
Total: Vav = 5.7 m / s.
