| The bisector of a triangle divides the opposite side into segments proportional to the adjacent sides. By the property of the bisector:
AB / BC = AD / DC.
From this ratio, we express BC and substitute the data into the equality:
BC = (AB * DC) / AD = (6 * 4) / 8 = 3 cm.
Answer: BC = 3 cm.
