Write down the molecular and ionic equations of the reactions mentioned in the second part of the paragraph
Write down the molecular and ionic equations of the reactions mentioned in the second part of the paragraph – between copper (II) hydroxide and hydrochloric acid, between copper (II) hydroxide and nitric acid. What is the essence of both reactions?
The reaction takes place between substances such as copper hydroxide and hydrochloric acid. As a result of the reaction, a copper chloride salt is formed and water is released. Graphically, this equation of a chemical reaction can be expressed as follows:
Cu (OH) 2 + 2 HCl = CuCl2 + 2 H2O
The ionic reaction equation can be written as follows:
Cu (OH) 2 + 2 H + + 2 Cl – = Cu 2+ + 2 Cl – + 2 H2O
The abbreviated ionic equation can be written as follows:
Cu (OH) 2 + 2 H + = Cu 2+ + 2 H2O.
Consider the chemical reaction that takes place between copper hydroxide and nitric acid. After passing this reaction, a bivalent copper sodium salt is formed and water is released. The molecular equation of the reaction can be written as follows:
Cu(OH)2 + 2 HNO3 = Cu(NO3)2 + 2 H2O
Cu(OH)2 + 2 H + + 2 NO3 – = Cu 2+ + 2 NO3 – + 2 H2O
Cu(OH)2 + 2 H + = Cu 2+ + 2 H2O.
The essence of these two reactions is the formation of salt and water, therefore, the precipitate dissolves in water.
