What problems were at the center of the church controversy?

At the end of the 15th century, against the background of heretical movements, the Russian Orthodox clergy was divided into “non-possessors” and the Josephites. Nil Sorsky insisted that the church renounce large land ownership. Joseph Volotsky and his followers proved their truth. In order for church officials to be able to educate the people and give charity, the church must necessarily have land ownership.
