| Determine the mass of copper that can be obtained as a result of the substitution reaction between copper oxide (2) and 5.6 liters of hydrogen
1. We write down the reaction of reduction of copper from its oxide by hydrogen:
CuO + H2 = Cu + H2O;
2.Calculate the chemical amount of hydrogen:
n (H2) = V (H2): Vm = 5.6: 22.4 = 0.25 mol;
3. according to the reaction equation, the coefficients before hydrogen and copper are related as 1: 1, then we determine the amount of copper:
n (Cu) = n (H2) = 0.25 mol;
4. find the mass of the resulting copper:
m (Cu) = n (Cu) * M (Cu) = 0.25 * 64 = 16 g.
Answer: 16 g.
